These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Proverbs 6:16-19
So, in our series on the Seven Things the Lord Hates the Most, today we are on #5, feet that be swift in running to mischief.  The definition might surprise you, but mischief simply means playful behavior or activity that is annoying but that is not meant to cause serious harm or damage, so in other words, being the class clown.  It's not always wrong to be the funny one or the life of the party, girls.  But, it is wrong when someone's feelings get hurt in the process or the playful behavior is disruptive to a class setting or teaching circumstance.  In these situations, it is not just being funny; it is being mischievous, and the Lord speaks to us against it.  Everyone likes the funny person and truly, A merry heart doeth good like a medicine (Proverbs 17:22), so don't be afraid to have the right kind of joking and fun; but, don't be the one who causes disruption to your teacher--whether school or church--and don't be the one who's known for making people laugh at the expense of hurting someone's heart.
