These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Did you catch the third thing that the Lord dislikes?  Today, we look at hands that shed innocent blood.  What does that mean?  A murderer?  Sure.  This verse would absolute apply to killing someone.  But, the word that jumps at me is innocent---the helpless, the ones who cannot help themselves.  Though this isn't the only application of this part of Proverbs 6:17, I cannot help but think of the atrocity of abortion when I consider this verse.  Taking an innocent life, causing harm to an unborn baby....this is abominable to God.  It is murder, and it is sin. 

 

When you consider your stand on abortion, remember this verse.  Some of you may have an opportunity to talk with someone considering abortion.  Remember, there is no one more helpless than an unborn child, and God will not hold him/her guiltless who has a part in the shedding of their innocent blood.
